"Every year of her life, Laura thought, the Net had been growing more expansive and seamless. Computers did it. Computers melted other machines, fusing them together. Television-telephone-telex. Tape recorder-VCR-laser disk. Broadcast tower linked to microwave dish linked to satellite. Phone line, cable TV, fiber-optic cords hissing out words and pictures in torrents of pure light. All netted together in a web over the world, a global nervous system, an octopus of data."
— Bruce Sterling, “Islands in the Net” (1989)

Disc of life
This saturday (9/20/2014), Rachel Ho is performing her amazing, unique motion capture performance called Sleighting with special guest DJ Calvin Frederick at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. Rachel is definitely one of the most exciting emerging animation artists, and this performance is an insane mix of dance, hype, giant beats, animation and basically redefines what a contemporary performance should feel like. If you’re in Los Angeles, this is not to be missed. All the info (including tickets) can be found at www.sleighting.net.
Thanks Sean :) Come watch my show because you’re going to have lots of fun, and because I want to create more performances and events that are exciting in ways that we really want to experience. And none of it can exist if there isn’t an audience.
This Spring 2014 I will prove that this movie soundtrack speaks for our generation.
